Day 36 - Process to Freedom

Regardless of your sexual history, regardless of the strength of your sex drive, regardless of the length of your singleness, purity IS possible.

It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 1:30-31

I boast in Christ who has made me pure. I’m boasting in the incredible power of God to turn a broken captive, ensnared to serving the idols she had worshipped, into a freed, whole, restored daughter who knows her worth and worships only One. And I boast because, if He did it for me, He can do it for anyone.

Purity is so much more than mastering your sex drive. It is discovering that everything you need in those deepest, most intimate places in your heart can be found in Him alone. A pure heart is a heart with no other gods except the one true God.

  • I have learned to stand in the midst of sexual temptation.
  • I have learned to stand firm. The ‘muscle’ to enable me to stand firm came through each time I refused to compromise in the face of sexual temptation.
  • I have learned to stand in His love in times of aloneness.
  • I have learned to stand on the Word of God.
  • I have learned to stand on God as a firm foundation and a place to run to in times of trouble.
  • I have learned to stand on what God says about my future.

And what I learned was far more than sexual purity. I have learned how to live. I have learned how to live as someone who is Loved. I have learned how to weather through storms of trials and temptations, because I found the Rock on whom to anchor my life and my heart.

Not on my own strength, but I can do ALL THINGS through Christ who strengthens me (Phil 4:13).

For You have delivered me from death and my feet from stumbling,
that I may walk before God in the light of life.

Psalm 56:13
